Rhaetian Railway (RhB) – Prototype and H0m Model Railroading

The RhB on old postcards – Bernina line

This card was stamped on April 11, 1931. It shows a scene which does not exist in reality! The editor has generously used his “poetic license” here: This card is shown and described in Jeanmaire's book about the Bernina-Bahn (Fig. 25); Jeanmaire explains that the background was rotated by 90 degrees on this picture and that it should really extend along the right margin!

This very old hand-coloured card shows Bernina railcar # 3. Partial operation on the Berninabahn began in 1908, since 1910, the complete route could be used. This card was stamped on August 19, 1912. Note the double “lyre type” pantographs.

Bernina railcars in double traction. The hand-coloured card was stamped on September 24, 1912.
