Vereina Tunnel – Southern Construction Site I (9/96)

      I visited the southern end between Susch and Lavin on the Engadin line on September 2, 1996, and took some photos. Enjoy this collection of pictures from an impressive construction site:

There is an extensive system of 900 mm gauge tracks on the site; here, one of the small Diesel engines looks like a toy train in comparison to the Engadin passenger train going north on the 1000 mm tracks of the RhB.

The rocket-like structure on the flat car has the inscription “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Vereinatunnel Süd” and the RhB logo.
