Rhaetian Railway (RhB) – Prototype and H0m Model Railroading

What does “H0m” mean?

H0, i.e, the “half zero” scale (remember it is a zero and not a capital “O”), is a scale of 1:87. For 1435 mm standard gauge, this results in a model gauge of 16.5 mm.

The “m,” however, means that the prototype is not a standard gauge railroad, but a narrow-gauge system with a gauge of 1000 mm (which equals 1 meter → “Meterspur” → “m.” It is that easy!). This means that H0m models are 1:87 in scale (like H0), but use 12 mm gauge tracks instead of the standard 16.5 mm.
